Privacy Policy

Sitter is operated by Grove Companies, LLC, based in Richmond, Virginia. This policy explains what information we collect from parents who use the service, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.
What we collect
From parents who create an account: your name, email, mobile phone number, family name, home address, your kids' first names and ages, your default pay rate, and a record of the events you set up.
From the babysitters you add to your roster: name, mobile phone number, optional email, and any notes you keep about them. Babysitters do not create accounts — the parent who knows them supplies their contact info.
For everyone, we keep a log of messages sent and received through Sitter (SMS and email): time, recipient, and which event each message relates to.
How we use it
We use this information to operate Sitter: coordinate babysitting events, send SMS and email notifications and reminders, and administer your account. We do not use it for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to running the service.
Service providers
To deliver the service we share data with a small set of third-party processors that act on our behalf:
- Twilio — sends and receives SMS. Phone numbers and message content are processed by Twilio.
- Resend — sends transactional email. Email addresses and message content are processed by Resend.
- Supabase — hosts the database and authentication.
- Vercel — hosts the Sitter web application.
These providers are bound by their own data-protection terms. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone else.
SMS messaging and consent
Sitter is built for coordinating with babysitters you already know personally. When you add a sitter to your roster, you represent and warrant that:
- you have a prior personal relationship with that person, and
- they have given you permission to contact them about babysitting through Sitter on your behalf.
On that basis, Sitter sends event-related SMS to the babysitters on your roster — requests, confirmations, and reminders for events you set up. We do not send marketing or promotional messages, and we do not message anyone you have not added.
For your own account, you consent to receive event-related SMS from Sitter when you sign up and add your mobile number.
Mobile phone numbers are never shared with third parties for marketing, and are not sold under any circumstance. They are used only to deliver the coordination messages you set up.
Anyone can opt out of Sitter SMS at any time by replying STOP. We stop messaging immediately. Reply START to re-enable. Message and data rates may apply.
Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. On deletion, we remove your personal information from active systems within a reasonable period, subject to limited backup retention and any legal obligations.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@hellositter.app. Babysitters without an account may also email to have their contact info removed from any parent's roster.
Children's data
Sitter is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Parents may add their kids' first names and ages so babysitters know who they'll be caring for; we do not collect or use any other information about children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email.
